Silicon Bronze is a copper alloy Rod containing 3% silicon and used for TIG or Oxyacetylene Welding of copper, brass, bronze, steel and cast iron.
Silicon Bronze is best known for welding plain or galvanized steel sheet metal in the manufacturing of steel cabinets, metal furniture and ductwork.
Weld deposits demonstrate high strength, excellent corrosion resistance and good weldability, making this wire suitable for surfacing parts in corrosive environments – Tensile Strength: 51,000 psi.
Some of the properties of ER-CuSi-A alloy include:
- High strength: ER-CuSi-A has high tensile strength, which is important for structural applications.
- Corrosion resistance: The alloy has good corrosion resistance, making it suitable for use in marine and other corrosive environments.
- Good electrical conductivity: ER-CuSi-A has good electrical conductivity, which makes it a suitable choice for electrical applications.
- Low melting point: ER-CuSi-A has a relatively low melting point compared to other copper welding alloys, making it easier to work with.
- Good fluidity: The alloy has good fluidity, which means that it flows easily and smoothly, resulting in a uniform and consistent weld bead.
- Suitable for brazing: ER-CuSi-A can also be used for brazing steel and stainless steel, making it a versatile filler metal.
